The Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) is a 50-year-old nonprofit organization that provides direct services to Ohio’s Appalachian counties in Early Care and Education, AmeriCorps Seniors, Weatherization and Energy Efficiency, and serves the state of Ohio in its accredited Weatherization Training Center. The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Strategic Communications Coordinator to join our team. As our Early Childhood Division’s Communications Coordinator you will be responsible for our region-wide recruitment efforts to increase volunteer numbers and related site stations for their service. Additionally, this position will work with COAD’s Strategic Communication team to share information with families about our COAD 4 Kids division (C4K) and other information relating to foster/adoption services and parenting services by utilizing various tools and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead recruitment efforts for volunteers and volunteer stations in-office and at outreach events around the service area
  • Collaborate with C4K staff and our Strategic Communications Coordinator to communicate information to families and partner organizations across the region
  • Work collaboratively with program staff to identify needs related to public relations, outreach, and implement a plan to achieve desired goals
  • Proof and edit program communication materials both print and digital
  • Collaboratively manage C4K social media channel(s) and upkeep C4K web properties
  • Gather and analyze market research on key populations to make recruitment decisions based on an ongoing and mathematically sound understanding of the audience

Key Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations and/or marketing
  • Certification in a Meta Technologies (Facebook and Instagram) marketing skill such as Meta Digital Marketing Associate or Meta Community Manager preferred, other marketing certification skills such as Google Digital Marketing Certification or Hootsuite / Hubspot are a plus
  • Excellent written communication skills; experienced across a wide variety of different communication channels including direct mail, digital communication (e-newsletters), social media, radio, photo, and video content marketing.
  • Experience in public speaking is preferred.
  • Photography + editing experience is preferred, composition and design skills are preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft properties such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneDrive, and Outlook required; proficiency in Teams / Zoom video conferencing software and computer-based design programs such as Canva, Adobe, and/or InDesign required. WordPress editing and/or web design experience desired.
